Youngster jumps off bridge into Akkulam Lake over love failure, drama ensues

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The fire force rescued a youth who attempted suicide by jumping into Akkulam Lake on Monday. The Chacka fire force rescued Mithun (25), a native of Vattappara, who attempted suicide over his love life falling apart.

The incident took place at around 4.45 pm on Monday. Some locals informed the police after they saw the youngster parking his bike and jumping off the bridge. The police immediately informed the control room and the Chacka Fire Force about the incident.

When the fire force officials arrived, the youngster was spotted hanging from a concrete pillar under the bridge. The fire force used an NCC boat that was nearby to bring him to shore. The drowsy youngster was admitted to the Medical College Hospital in a 108 ambulance by Thumba police and fire force officials. Doctors said that he was perfect and free from any injuries.

The youth was rescued by a team comprising Chacka Fire Station Officer Arun Mohan, Senior Fire and Rescue Officers Shibu, Rajesh, Sajikumar, Abhilash, Arun, Akash, and Home Guards L.L. Prasad, Shivakumar, and Jaya.
