THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rain in various places in the state today. Three districts are on yellow alert. Alert has been issued in Pathanamthitta, Idukki and Malappuram. Isolated heavy rain is predicted. Heavy rain is defined as a rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.
Moderate rain with thundershowers and strong winds gusting up to 40 kmph are likely in isolated places in Kollam, Alappuzha and Ernakulam in the next three hours, The IMD has also informed that light rain is likely in isolated places in Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam and Thrissur.
Meantime, as part of the black sea phenomenon, the National Oceanographic Research Centre has informed that there is a possibility of sea erosion due to waves rising to 0.4 to 0.8 meters along the Kerala coast till 11.30 pm tomorrow. The National Oceanographic Research Centre has stated that there is a possibility of sea erosion due to waves of 0.9 to 1.0 meters high along the Kanyakumari coast until 11.30 pm tomorrow as part of the black sea phenomenon.
