ADIMALY: The death of four members of a family after their house caught fire is not assessed to have been caused by an electrical short circuit. This was informed by the electrical inspection authorities. The authorities also clarified that if it was short circuit, the house will not burn completely.

The fire occurred at the house near Kombodinjal near Adimaly in Idukki. The dead were late Anish's wife Shubha (37), sons Abhinand (9), Abhinav (5) and Shubha's mother Ponnamma (70) of Adimali.

The fire broke out last Friday. Since there are no other houses near their house, the incident was not known to the outside world. One of the neighbors who passed by in the evening saw the burnt house. Subsequently, a search conducted by the Vellathuval police first found the body of a child. During a search conducted late night, the bodies of the others were also found. Anish had died of Covid two years ago. The police's initial conclusion was that an electrical short circuit in the house may have caused the fire.

The police said that more clarity on the accident will be obtained only after the results of the forensic team's examination of the house are released. The postmortem reports of the bodies are awaited. The police also stated that scientific tests, including DNA tests, will be completed in the coming days.
