Nine awarded life sentences in Pollachi sexual assault case

CHENNAI: The Coimbatore women's court has found all nine accused guilty in the Pollachi sexual assault case. All nine accused have been sentenced to life imprisonment. The court clarified that it is imprisonment till death. The case is that the accused threatened and raped several women and then circulated their nude pictures between 2016 and 2019.

The court convicted Sabarirajan alias Rishwanth, K Thirunavukarasu, M Sathish, T Vasantha Kumar, R Manivannan alias Mani, K Arulanantham, P Babu alias 'Bike' Babu, Haron Paul and M Arun Kumar. The accused exploited many women including doctors, college teachers and students.

The shocking information came to light when a 19-year-old college student, who was kidnapped and raped, told her family about the atrocities. The police then searched the suspects' laptops and found nude images of several women, but most of them refused to file a complaint.
