KALPETTA: The model house in the township project prepared by the government for the victims of the Mundakkai Chooralmala landslide is ready for construction. The project will be completed within seventy days and displayed to the beneficiaries. This is done for the beneficiaries to check the quality of the house. The Uralungal Labor Contractor Society started the construction work on April 16.

The first zone will have 99 houses, including this model house. The ground for their foundations has been prepared. The construction is being done in five zones in Elston Estate. Each house will be built in seven cents of area.

The chief minister has issued an order to expedite the project. A special meeting was held to assess the progress. A timeline was set for granting administrative, technical and financial approvals. Apart from houses, other buildings also need to be constructed.

This July 30th marks one year of the disastrous Wayanad landslides. The Chief Minister has directed that permission be given immediately for cutting the necessary trees. The government has acquired land to build more than 450 houses in the Elston Estate.
