SRINAGAR: A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan, who sustained injuries in Pakistan shelling has succumbed to his injuries. He has been identified as Rambabu Prasad of Bihar. He sustained serious injuries in Pakistan’s attack on May 9. His family has reached Jammu. He got married in February this year. His wife Anjali is from Basilpur.
The jawan had spoken to his wife on the fateful day. His relatives said that despite his recent posting to Jodhpur, Rambabu was retained in Jammu and Kashmir due to the ongoing conflict. It is reported that the soldier's body will be taken to his hometown today. The funeral will be held with state honours.
Another soldier from Bihar had also lost his life during the India-Pakistan tensions. BSF sub-inspector Mohammad Imtiaz lost his life. His body was cremated with state honours the other day. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced that a compensation of Rs 50 lakh will be given to the family members of both.
The chief minister expressed grief over Rambabu's demise through an ex-officio message. 'The country will always remember his sacrifice. I am deeply saddened by this incident. I pray to God to give strength to his family to endure this difficult time. The state government will give a compensation of Rs 50 lakh to Rambabu's kin. His last rites will be performed with state honours,’ he said in a post on X.
