MDMA in cake and cream biscuit; three women held with drugs worth 40 crore

MALAPPURAM: The air customs nabbed three women at the Karipur Airport with drugs worth Rs 40 crore. They came in Air Asia flight from Thailand and landed in Kozhikode at 11.45 pm last night. The air customs arrested Rabiyath Saidu Sainudeen (40) of Chennai, Kavitha Rajesh Kumar (40) of Coimbatore and Simi Balakrishnan (39) of Thrissur.

In addition to 34 kg of hybrid ganja, 15 kg of chocolate made in Thailand and laced with chemicals, cake and cream biscuits, were also seized from them. The search was following a tip-off received by the customs air intelligence unit. They reached Kozhikode from Thailand via Kuala Lumpur. The Kozhikode Customs Air Intelligence operates under the Kochi Customs Preventive.

Hybrid Ganja worth Rs 9 crore was seized from Karipur Airport the other day. The police seized 18 kg of ganja brought from Abu Dhabi. The police arrested two natives of Mattanur in Kannur, who had come to get the ganja. Prinjil (35) and Roshan R Babu (33) were the two arrested. An investigation has been launched into the case of an escaped passenger. The incident happened on Monday night. The ganja was brought in a trolley bag.
