Pastor found dead in bedroom; death within one year of posting at church

THRISSUR: Church pastor found hanging in his bedroom. Leo Puthoor (32), a native of Perincherry, the pastor of St. Joseph's Church in Erumapetty, Thrissur, was found dead. Leo Puthoor took charge as the pastor of the Pathiyaram church on October 22.

The sexton searched for the pastor to ring the church bell at around 12.30 pm today, but he could not be found. Then the caretaker was informed. Later, the caretaker looked through the window of the pastor's bedroom adjacent to the church and found him hanging.

The church staff and locals immediately informed the police. Then the Erumapetty police reached the spot and took further action. Father Leo Puthoor received the title six years ago. His first appointment as a pastor was at the Pariyaram church in Erumapetty.
