THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy rains are likely for five days in Kerala. A yellow alert has been issued in six districts today. The yellow alert is in Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts. The possibility of isolated heavy rains is predicted. Heavy rain is defined as a situation where 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm of rain is expected in 24 hours.
The Indian Meteorological Department has announced that there is a possibility of moderate rain with thundershowers and strong winds with a speed of up to 40 kmph at isolated places in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Pathanamthitta districts in the next three hours.
Meanwhile, a yellow alert has been issued in various districts on Sunday as well. The yellow alert is in Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Kozhikode districts. IMD has informed that there is no restriction on fishing on the Kerala-Karnataka-Lakshadweep coasts today.
The National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has warned that there is a possibility of sea attack due to waves rising to 0.4 to 0.8 meters along the Kerala coast till 11.30 pm tomorrow as part of the swell surge (Kallakadal) phenomenon.
