'I'll stand with the people even if I lose my head, issue that I've raised is more important'

KONNI: K.U. Jenish Kumar MLA has issued a statement clarifying his role in the release of a man taken into custody by the Forest Department in connection with the recent death of a wild elephant due to electrocution in Konni, Pathanamthitta. Jenish emphasised that he is prepared to stand with the local community on wildlife-related issues, even at the risk of his political career.

In a Facebook post, Jenish Kumar revealed that he was contacted by a woman from another state who informed him that her husband had been detained by forest officials over the incident. The MLA alleged that the Forest Department was attempting to instil fear among residents by using the elephant’s death as a pretext, claiming that 11 individuals had been taken into custody in a single day.

Jenish Kumar also addressed the controversy surrounding certain remarks made in a recently surfaced video, stating that the focus should not be on one or two remarks he made but rather on the issues he raised on the people's behalf.
