KANNUR: A man had a narrow escape after his electric scooter caught fire while running. The incident took place in Mokeri near Panoor in Kannur. The incident involved a Kinetic Green electric scooter (registration number KL-58 AH 4983) owned by Chendayad native Moosa, a newspaper agent in Panoor town.
According to Moosa, the scooter suddenly caught fire while he was riding it. The incident occurred near Puthuma Mukku in Mokeri while he was delivering newspapers in the morning. Moosa said he escaped unhurt because he stopped the scooter and got off as soon as he noticed smoke coming from the vehicle. The scooter was completely gutted in the fire.
Preliminary investigations point to a short circuit as the probable cause of the fire. Experts note that electric vehicles are equipped with wiring systems rated for specific electrical loads, and a short circuit typically occurs when the current exceeds these limits. Regular maintenance and proper care of the vehicle's electrical systems can significantly reduce the risk of such incidents.
