MALAPPURAM: The Muslim League National Council meeting will be held at 10.30 am on Thursday at the Abu Palace Auditorium in Chennai. The council will elect the national leadership for a four-year term. It is reported that the current office bearers may continue in key positions.
President Prof. K.M. Kader Mohideen from Tamil Nadu and General Secretary P.K. Kunhalikutty will continue. Treasurer P.V. Abdul Wahab and Organizing Secretary E.T. Muhammed Basheer are unlikely to be changed. Panakkad Sayyid Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal will remain the chairman of the National Political Affairs Committee. There will be significant changes in other office bearers.
The party will intensify its activities in various states by including more youths. According to the Muslim League, the current committee has succeeded in bringing five MPs, including three Lok Sabha members, to Parliament.
Completing the Muslim League's national headquarters building in Delhi and the significant progress made on the Citizenship Bill and Waqf Bill will be presented as achievements. The League also assessed that the party has grown among youth, students, women, and worker organisations at a national level.
The council will form a political campaign to mobilize Muslims, minorities, Dalits, and backward classes in the fight against fascist rule. The National Secretariat, which met in Chennai on Wednesday, approved the newly formed state committees. Panakkad Sayyid Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal presided over the meeting.
