Biggest drug bust of 2025; Three young women arrested from Karipur airport

KONDOTTY: Hybrid cannabis worth over Rs 35 crore and 15 kg of chemical drugs mixed in chocolate, cake and cream biscuits made in Thailand were seized from Karipur Airport. Three young women were arrested in the incident. The raid was carried out following a tip-off received by the Customs Air Intelligence Unit.

34 kilograms of hybrid cannabis were seized from the three.

The arrested are Chennai native Rabiyat Saithu Sainuddin (40), Coimbatore native Kavita Rajesh Kumar (40), and Thrissur native Simi Balakrishnan (39), who landed in Karipur on Air Asia AK 33 flight from Thailand at 11.45 pm on Tuesday.

They arrived in Karipur from Thailand via Kuala Lumpur. Customs officials are currently grilling the three. This is one of the biggest cannabis seizures of this year in Karipur. This is the second consecutive day that hybrid cannabis smuggled through the airport has been seized. During a raid conducted on Monday night, two youths were arrested with hybrid cannabis worth around Rs. 9 crore.
