Animol's family opposed her relationship with Abinlal; body to be brought to Kerala soon

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The body of Animol Gilda (26), a native of Bonacaud in Vithura, Thiruvananthapuram, who was killed in Dubai, is expected to arrive in Thiruvananthapuram either today or tomorrow. It is still unclear whether the body will be taken to Bonacaud or to her mother’s current residence in Keralapuram, Kollam. Animol had gone to Dubai about one and a half years ago.

She was killed on the evening of May 4 in a flat in Karama, Dubai. The accused, Abinlal, also from Thiruvananthapuram, was caught at the Dubai airport while attempting to flee the country. Animol was working at a financial institution in Dubai, while Abinlal was employed at a private hospital. On the day of the incident, the two had an argument in the flat where Animol lived with her friends. Hearing screams from the balcony, her flatmates rushed to check, at which point Abinlal fled the scene.

Later, Animol’s friends handed over Abinlal’s photo to the Dubai police. He was apprehended at the airport with the help of AI surveillance cameras while trying to leave the country.

Friends said it was Abinlal who had brought Animol to Dubai. Animol's family had opposed their relationship and was trying to arrange her marriage with someone else.
