KANNUR: Left activists uprooted the flagpole of a pro-Left organisation, thinking it belonged to the Congress, during the protest march organised by the SFI district committee. Today's protest march was a response to the Youth Congress march in Malapattam and the subsequent Youth Congress-CPM clash.

During the Youth Congress march in Malapattam, the activists had shouted provocative slogans. SFI District Secretary Sharat, who inaugurated the march, said, "Even after killing Dheeraj, they are not ready to end the grudge."

The activists marched forward with the uprooted flagpole. They also destroyed all the flexs and other flagpoles they saw on the way. However, the uprooted flagpole belonged to the Rajiv G Cultural Forum led by PK Ragesh, who was expelled from the Congress. The activists later dumped this flagpole near the bus stand and left. PK Ragesh's faction currently supports the Left.
