THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Two districts are under yellow district today following the Indian Meteorological Department's prediction of heavy rainfall chances in the state. A yellow alert has been declared in Pathanamthitta and Idukki districts.

The rains are expected to intensify by Monday. An orange alert has been issued in Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts. The southwest monsoon has become active in the southern Bay of Bengal. The Meteorological Department explains that it is likely to reach Kerala by the end of next week.

According to IMD, the monsoon has spread to the southeast Arabian Sea, Maldives, Comorin region, and some parts of the Andaman Sea, Andaman Islands, and south Bay of Bengal. However, Kerala is expected to receive heavy rains even before the monsoon. There is a possibility of very heavy rains in isolated places.
