Jawan held for theft of 400 kilo rubber sheet and arecanut 

PALAKKAD: A jawan was arrested for stealing rubber sheet and arecanut at Mannur Kambipadi. The Mankara police arrested Arun (30) of Vadasseri. He broke the lock of the rubber shop owned by Harish Vengassri and stole 400 kilograms of rubber sheets and arecanuts. The incident happened the other day.

Arun came near the shop in an Alto car at night. He then broke the lock and committed the theft. The stolen goods were taken to another shop the next day and sold. The accused was arrested when he was about to return to the army camp in Arunachal Pradesh after his leave. Arun told police that he was in financial difficulty and committed the theft to overcome this. The police are conducting a detailed investigation into the incident.
