Rain to intensify across Kerala; orange alert issued in four districts

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that rainfall is likely to intensify in the state today. According to the IMD, isolated places in Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Kannur and Kasargod districts are likely to receive light rainfall in the coming three hours. An orange alert has been declared in four districts, while a yellow alert is in place in seven districts.

19/05/2025: Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasargod
20/05/2025: Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasargod.


Isolated places in these districts are likely to receive very heavy rainfall. Very heavy rainfall is defined as rainfall ranging from 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm in 24 hours.

Yellow alert
19/05/2025: Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad and Malappuram
20/05/2025: Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Palakkad
21/05/2025: Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasargod
22/05/2025: Kannur and Kasargod


Isolated places in these districts are likely to receive heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms. Heavy rainfall is defined as rainfall ranging from 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.
