NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court intervenes in BJP Minister Vijay Shah’s controversial remarks against Colonel Sofiya Qureshi. The Supreme Court has directed the Madhya Pradesh DGP to form a special team to investigate the incident. The investigation team includes three IPS officers, including a woman officer. The team is headed by an IG-rank officer. The court also said that the preliminary investigation report should be submitted before May 28.
The Supreme Court was considering a plea filed by Vijay Shah against the high court's order to register an FIR in his controversial remarks. The Supreme Court severely criticized the BJP minister for his comments. The court said that the minister's apology was not acceptable and that the minister, a public servant and an experienced politician, should use his words carefully. The Supreme Court has stayed the minister's arrest in the case.
Vijay Shah addressed Sofiya Qureshi as sister of terrorists. The minister said, The terrorists killed our Hindu brothers. Prime Minister Modiji responded by sending their (terrorists') sister to strike them. The terrorists made our sisters widows, so Modiji sent the sisters of their community to teach them a lesson’. When is remarks turned controversial, he apologised. The Madhya Pradesh High Court ordered to register a case against Vijay Shah. The high court directed the state police chief to register a case.
