Heavy rainfall for next five days in Kerala; Orange alert issued

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Rain is almost a certitude for the next five days in Kerala. The Indian Meteorological Department's prediction comes amidst strong rainfall in the capital city on Monday night The rains in the coming days will be mostly after 12 pm. Orange and yellow alerts have been issued in districts except Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam.

Special alert has been given for districts from Malappuram to Kasaragod. A cautionary warning has been issued in the hilly areas. A yellow alert has been issued from Pathanamthitta to Palakkad. Isolated heavy rains are possible.

The Meteorological Department predicts that a cyclonic storm will form in the Arabian Sea on the 21st and it will strengthen and turn into a low-pressure area. Due to the influence of this low pressure, rains will intensify in Kerala. IMD has also asked fishermen to take cautionary measures while venturing into the sea.
