KOCHI: A three-year-old girl went missing while travelling along with her mother today in Aluva. The mother stated to police that she recognised her child missing upon reaching Aluva.

The police have started an investigation after recording the mother's statement. The mother said that after picking up the child from the Anganwadi in Mattakuzhy at 3.30 pm, she headed straight to Aluva. The inspection included examining CCTV footage from the surrounding areas.

Meanwhile, there is a rumour about the mother of the child occasionally suffering from mental imbalance. It was also reported that she was staying separately from her husband due to family issues. Police earlier confirmed anomalies in the statements given by the mother of the missing child.

Police are currently searching the river near Moozhikulam Bridge after purportedly receiving some confidential statements from the missing child’s mother.
