Very heavy rainfall is defined as rainfall ranging from 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm in 24 hours.
A yellow alert has been issued for Kozhikode and Wayanad districts. The current rainfall is considered to be pre-monsoon showers. Compared to previous days, rainfall is likely to reduce today and tomorrow. However, it is expected to intensify again by the day after tomorrow.
Extremely heavy rainfall can lead to hazardous conditions. Rainfall is expected to occur in a short span of time, which may cause flash floods and landslides. There is also a possibility of waterlogging in urban areas and generally low-lying regions. The public and government agencies are urged to remain extremely vigilant.
