Actor Maniyanpilla Raju had previously revealed that he was diagnosed with cancer. Now, he has made a strong comeback by overcoming the illness. In a recent interview with a media outlet, he opened up about his experience when he first learned about the diagnosis.

“I’m someone who gets upset and discouraged even over trivial things. But those feelings don’t last long. I’m a fighter. I will bounce back. When I first heard it was cancer, I was shaken for a second. I thought my life had come to an end. I wondered what I was going to do next.

I called Mammootty and told him. He said, ‘You have to fight, man. You have to fight. We’re not here to live for 200 years.’ Even I felt that if I gave up, it would be over. Even when I was bedridden and in pain, the nurses would often say that I still had the same childlike spirit. They told me they prayed for me, and that support gave me the strength and motivation to keep going.

I no longer believe that a cancer diagnosis is the end. I will continue to act and I will still produce films. That’s the mindset I’m carrying forward. Some people say really insensitive things. One person even called me and asked, ‘Hey, I heard you passed away. Is that true?’ I asked back, ‘What kind of ridiculous question is that?’ I can only laugh it off now,” said Maniyanpilla Raju.
