CHENNAI: The divorce proceedings between Tamil film star Ravi Mohan, widely known as Jayam Ravi, and his wife Aarti are progressing in the Chennai Family Welfare Court. The actor filed for divorce in September of last year, and both parties recently appeared before the court to address the matter.

As per Tamil media reports, Jayam Ravi has taken a firm stance on ending the marriage, asserting that reconciliation with Aarti is not an option. In response, Aarti is said to have filed a counter-petition requesting a monthly alimony of Rs 40 lakh to support her post-divorce financial needs.

The court has scheduled the next hearing for June 12, during which Jayam Ravi’s reply to the counter-petition will be reviewed. With no mutual agreement in sight, the court has directed both parties to provide written submissions outlining their positions.

Efforts to resolve the dispute through mediation have proven unsuccessful. Despite being advised by the court to participate in counselling sessions aimed at reaching a settlement, neither Ravi nor Aarti attended the sessions. Officials subsequently declared the mediation process a failure. With both sides holding firm, the case appears to be heading for a prolonged and possibly contentious legal battle.
