SRINAGAR: A soldier was martyred during an encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. The incident took place in the Singhpora area of Chhatroo in the Kishtwar district. In the morning, the army had killed two terrorists. A search operation for other terrorists in the area is ongoing.

The army launched a search operation in the area based on intelligence reports suggesting that four terrorists were hiding in the area. During the operation, the terrorists opened fire on the soldiers, leading to a gunfight in which two terrorists were killed. The dead terrorists have not been identified yet.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier made an emotional statement about Operation Sindoor:

"Terrorists killed innocent people in Pahalgam, targeting them based on their religion. India responded within 22 minutes through Operation Sindoor. We destroyed nine terrorist bases. We showed what retaliation would look like if the 'sindoor' (symbolic red powder worn by married Hindu women) is desecrated. Those who did so were wiped out. Some thought we would remain silent. The world witnessed how sindoor turned into gunpowder. Operation Sindoor represents a new face of justice. We have responded to terrorism. Don’t try to threaten us with nuclear bombs. India will expose Pakistan’s true face to the world," he said.
