Two children drown in church pond; one boy in serious condition

KANHANGAD: In a tragic incident, two children drowned while bathing in the church pond in Palakki in Manikoth. The deceased have been identified as Anwar (11), son of Haidar, and Afaas (9), son of Azees. Anwar’s brother Hashikh has been admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru. His condition is said to be serious.

The tragic incident occurred around 4 PM on Thursday evening, leaving the local community in deep sorrow. The children were playing near the old church pond in Palakki when they accidentally slipped and fell into the water. Local residents who noticed the incident, along with the fire force and police, rushed to the spot and pulled out all three children. They were taken to Mansoor Hospital in Kanhangad, but two of them could not be saved. The bodies have been shifted to Kasaragod General Hospital, and post-mortem examinations will be conducted today.
