Family vacation turns tragic as Kozhikode student dies after pine tree falls on him in Ooty

KOZHIKODE: A leisure trip to Ooty ended on a tragic note for a family after a school student died in a freak accident. Mokeri Kovukkunnu native Adhidev(15), son of Rekha and Praseedh couple, died in the incident. Praseedh works as a warehouse manager in Neethi Medical Stores run by Consumerfed.

The tragic incident took place in the tourist spot between the Ooty –Gudalur national highway. The family members were walking on the path when one of the pine trees fell on top of the student. Gudalur Road is replete with pine trees on both sides.

It is reported that Adhidev died on the spot. Police and forest officials reached the area and transferred the dead body to Ooty Medical Hospital for post-mortem.

For the past two days, tourists spot in Ooty were shut down due to inclement weather.
