UDHAGAMANDALAM: The hilltop tourist destinations in Ooty and other parts of Nilgiris district were closed for two days due to heavy rainfall. Tmt. Lakshmi Bhavya Tanneeru I.A.S., the collector of the district announced the news.

The main tourist attractions including the lake, Doddabetta Peak and pine forest were closed.

The continuing inclement weather and rains have plummeted the temperatures in an already chilling Coonoor and Ooty region.

Almost 13 trees uprooted in the incessant rainfall in Gudalur, Ooty and Coonoor regions. Many trees fell on the Gudalur road creating traffic snarls that lasted for hours. A 30-member NDRF team is currently in the scenic hill station to monitor the disaster management programme.
