Rain havoc in Alappuzha beach; 18-year-old teen dies in freak accident, friend seriously injured

ALAPPUZHA: An 18-year-old girl died tragically after a roadside shop selling knick-knacks fell on her due to strong winds and heavy rains in Alappuzha. The shocking incident took place near Alappuzha beach on Monday. The victim is Nithya Joshi, daughter of Joshi and Deepanjali couple, natives of Thirumala.

Nithya's friend Adarsh ​​ (24) was seriously injured in the accident. The two took shelter behind the shop to escape from the strong winds and rain. However, the rain aggravated the point that the shop fell completely on the duo.

Six people in Kerala died on Sunday in the rain wreaked havoc. Siblings Nithin Biju (13) and Ivin Biju (11) of Kodencherry Kozhikode died of electric shock while fishing in a local creek. The duo went fishing at 6:30 in the evening but was unaware of the electric post that fell into the same waters in the rain.

It is reported that a teak tree branch near the stream broke and fell onto the electric wire, causing the post to break.

A migrant worker died after a tree fell on him at Pampadumpara in Idukki. The victim was identified as Malathi (21), a native of Madhya Pradesh. The body of Pradeep (52), who went missing after his boat capsized in Kottapuram, Kodungallur, Kanjirapuzha the other day, was found on Sunday.
