THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Chief Minister has approved the list of six officers to be considered for the next police chief of Kerala and submitted it to the Centre. The list includes IPS officers with 30 years of service. The term of the current police chief Shaik Darvesh Saheb ends on June 30.
A committee headed by the UPSC chairman will meet by the end of May to prepare a final list of three people and submit it to the state. One of them can be made the police chief by the state government. The state has provided a list of six people based on seniority. The UPSC will prepare a list of three people considering the seniority, work and character of the officers. Suresh Rajpurohit (SPG) and Ravada Chandrasekhar (IB) in the six-member list are on central deputation. They have informed in writing that they will return to Kerala if made the police chief. That is why they were also included in the list.
