NEW DELHI: Defence General Anil Chauhan has rejected Pakistan's claim that it shot down six Indian fighter jets. The Indian Army had announced that it had lost fighter jets in the conflict with Pakistan in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack. However, General Anil Chauhan has clarified that it is "absolutely incorrect" to say that Pakistan shot it down. He said this in an interview with a Singapore-based news agency.
“The good part is we were able to understand the tactical mistake which we made, remedy it, rectify it and then implement it again after two days and flew all our jets, again targeting at long range,” he said.
This is not the first time that India has denied Pakistan's claim that it has shot down Indian fighter jets. Air Marshal AK Bharti had said at a press conference on May 11 that “losses are a part of combat”, and that India had targeted only Pakistan's terrorist camps and military bases, avoiding civilian centres as much as possible, and that all the pilots who flew the fighter jets returned home immediately after the mission was completed.
