MALAPPURAM: The UDF election convention for the Nilambur assembly constituency will be held on June 2 at 3 PM at Kodathippadi. The event will be inaugurated by AICC General Secretary (Organisation) KC Venugopal MP. KPCC president Sunny Joseph, Leader of the Opposition VD Satheesan, Abbas Ali Thangal, Deputy Leader of the Opposition P.K. Kunhalikutty, and other prominent UDF leaders will participate.

Meanwhile, the latest reports suggest that PV Anvar is likely to contest in Nilambur. Anvar has found himself in a tough spot after being denied entry into the UDF and facing rejection from the Congress regarding his demand to drop Aryadan Shoukath as the candidate.

Although Anvar had stated in the morning that he would not be contesting, he changed his stance by evening. He claimed he was under pressure to contest and that several people had approached him offering support. Trinamool Congress leader Saji Manjakadambil stated that Anvar will contest and submit his nomination papers on Monday. Congress MP K. Sudhakaran also commented that Anvar’s UDF entry is not a closed chapter, and there is still a possibility of it happening.
