KADUTHURUTHY: In a shocking incident, Mons Joseph MLA narrowly escaped being hit by a car allegedly driven by a youth under the influence of alcohol. The incident took place on Sunday morning at Arunoottimangalam.

According to eyewitnesses, the MLA was engaged in conversation with locals by the roadside when a speeding BMW, approaching from the Mulakkulam area, veered dangerously close to him. Quick action by bystanders, who pulled the MLA out of harm's way, averted a possible tragedy.

The vehicle subsequently collided with a heap of soil by the roadside. While attempting to reverse, the car struck two local residents. Locals managed to intercept the vehicle and upon opening the door, discovered that the driver was intoxicated. The youth was reportedly known to several people in the area.

Mons Joseph stated that he does not intend to lodge a formal complaint regarding the incident. Velloor Police visited the scene and have taken note of the matter.
