KOCHI: The team, investigating the corruption case involving ED officials, is heading back to Mumbai. They will thoroughly investigate deals surrounding Boro Commodities, a paper company in Thane that hid crores of rupees allegedly taken by ED officials.

The first three days of the investigation found Boro to be a shell company. The shell company was traced to a bank account transferred to the complainant by an intermediary of an ED officer. Vigilance had found one of the owners of the establishment. The third accused in the case, Mukesh Kumar, a native of Rajasthan, now needs to be identified in Mumbai.

Meanwhile, the ED did not respond to the notice issued by the Vigilance seeking details of the case registered against the complainant Aneesh Babu under the Prevention of Black Money Act. Vigilance officials personally visited the ED's Kochi unit office on May 2nd and issued the notice.

It is learnt that Vigilance has taken steps to register a new case against an ED officer for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 25 lakh to close the case. The statement of the Ernakulam native trader who disclosed this to the Vigilance has been recorded. The statements of four people may be recorded soon. They agreed to reveal the fact behind officers demanding bribes after Aneesh Babu approached the Vigilance.
