THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A decision has been made to ensure that all passengers carry Aadhaar cards on trains during travelling. Railways ordered ticket inspectors to use the m-Aadhaar application. The decision comes after e-Aadhaar verification was made mandatory for booking train tickets.
The Aadhaar of catering staff and cleaning staff will also be verified. The aim is to prevent impersonation and misuse using fake Aadhaar cards.
If the Aadhaar card is found to be fake during the inspection, the Railway Protection Force or the police should be informed immediately. Currently, ticket inspectors are advised to download m-Aadhaar from the Play Store. The app will be available in the ticket inspectors tab. m-Aadhaar is an application developed by the Unique Identification Authority of India. It can be checked including the QR code. When scanned, the app will contain important identification information including Aadhaar number, name, and address. The app will also work in offline mode.
