LUCKNOW: A new turning point in the missing case of a couple in Meghalaya during honeymoon. Days after her husband's body was found, his wife was found alive. Police said the woman orchestrated the murder by hiring killers. The dead has been identified as Raja Raghuvanshi (30) of Indore.
The police arrested his wife Sonam (24) from Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh. The police said three other accused were arrested along with Sonam. Police said Sonam was in a relationship with someone else and this is the reason why she hired the killers to murder her husband.
Raja Raghuvanshi and Sonam got married on May 11. They reached Guwahati on May 20 and Cherrapunjee on May 23. They went missing later. Their phones were switched off. Their relatives suspected that the couple had been kidnapped. In a search conducted, Raja's body was found in a gorge below the Weisawdong Parking Lot at Riat Arliang on June 2. But Sonam could not be found. Raja's body was in a decomposed state. A search was intensified for Raja’s wife but could not find her.
A tourist guide had said the other day that he had seen three men with Sonam and Raja on the day they went missing. This was crucial in the case. The police arrested Sonam and her co-accused during the subsequent investigation. It is learnt that they had reached Uttar Pradesh after killing Raja.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma congratulated the police in a post on X for solving the case quickly. ‘Within 7 days a major breakthrough has been achieved by the #meghalayapolice in the Raja murder case … 3 assailants who are from Madhya Pradesh have been arrested, female has surrendered and operation still on to catch 1 more assailant .. well done #meghalayapolice’, his post said.
