THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KSEB has responded to the allegations in the Nilambur student death case. KSEB said in a statement that the claim that the authorities were informed seven months ago about the theft of electricity and the construction of wild boar traps is untrue.

Some media reports are not factual. No such complaint has been received at the KSEB Vazhikkadavu section office. The accident that took place in Nilambur the other day was due to the theft of electricity by connecting a wire attached to a goad to an electricity line. It is not easy for KSEB employees to detect and control such thefts on their own as it is an isolated area near the forest border and it is difficult for outsiders to reach here and since electricity is stolen in this way at night. The statement also said that such evil tendencies and accidents can be avoided only with the cooperation of the people.

Information about electricity theft can be reported to the KSEB section offices or the state office of the Anti Power Theft Squad at the Thiruvananthapuram Vidyut Bhavan or the district offices during office hours. One can report the information by calling the emergency number 9496010101 or sending a WhatsApp message. It would be advisable to include the exact location and name of the section office along with the information regarding electricity misuse. The details of the person providing the information will be kept strictly confidential. A suitable reward will also be given.
