MALAPPURAM: The fronts are blaming each other for the death of a student due to electrocution from a wild boar trap in Vazhikkadav, Nilambur. The issue of the hill people has been raised in the by-elections as a topic of debate.

Alleging that the accident was caused by the incompetence of the panchayat administrative committee, LDF organized a march to the Vazhikkadav panchayat office, while UDF organized a march to the KSEB office, alleging that it was the lapse of the KSEB. BJP also protested in front of the Nilambur Forest Department office, alleging that the LDF and UDF are deceiving the hill people.

Opposition leader VD Satheesan criticized the Forest Department and Electricity Board for not investigating the complaints about the installation of electric traps at various places, saying it was a serious lapse. He said that the government is cheating by not paying money even though the panchayat has given permission to kill wild boars. Minister AK Saseendran said that the UDF took advantage of the opportunity to protest and intended that there was politics behind it. “I did not say that there was a conspiracy in the death. There was an attempt to isolate and attack me,” he said. AK Saseendran’s statement that there was a conspiracy was very controversial.

Former BJP state president K Surendran said that even though the state government has been given the powers to kill wild boars, they are not being used and that the UDF-ruled Vazhikkadav panchayat does not pay money to those who shoot boars.

Despite several complaints about the boar trap threat, the police did not take them into account. Although the police arrested the accused, no other clarifications have been made. If there is no mystery, why is it being kept secret?
