NEW DELHI: The all-party delegation led by MP Shashi Tharoor, which went to explain Operation Sindoor, has concluded its meetings in the United States and returned. During the return journey, Tharoor wrote on X that the world now knows the truth—that Indians are lovers of non-violence.
"Even if I were born a hundred times, I would do it a hundred times over. I will love my country with all my heart. Now the whole world knows the truth. We are people who love non-violence—but only until someone tests that love... Jai Hind," Tharoor wrote.
Tharoor and the delegation arrived in Washington on June 3 after visiting Guyana, Panama, Colombia, and Brazil. There, they held meetings with U.S. Vice President JD Vance, Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau, senior members of Congress, foreign policy experts, and members of the Indian-American community. Tharoor noted that the meeting with Vance was particularly positive. He revealed that Vance expressed outrage over the Pahalgam attack and praised India’s restraint in Operation Sindoor.
Deputy Secretary of State Landau reiterated America’s strong support for India in its fight against terrorism and in their strategic partnership.
On the final day of their U.S. visit, the delegation paid tribute at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in Washington. Tharoor wrote on X that it was remarkable to see adorned statues of the Mahatma Gandhi—twentieth century’s greatest prophet of peace, non-violence, and human freedom—in the capitals of the world. In addition to Shashi Tharoor, the delegation included Taranjit Sandhu, Tejasvi Surya, Bhubaneswar Kalita, Shashank Mani Tripathi (BJP), Milind Deora (Shiv Sena), Sarfaraz Ahmad (JMM), and Ganti Harish Madhur Balayogi (TDP).
