BENGALURU: A cobra that swallowed a knife, mistaking it for food, has been saved. The incident happened at Kumla in Karnataka, the other day. The cobra entered the house of Govinda Naik in Hedge village. The snake, which entered the kitchen, swallowed a knife, mistaking it for food. Naik, who had reached the kitchen, was initially shocked to see the cobra, but then saw the knife in its mouth. He immediately informed the rescuers. Snake rescuer Pawan and veterinary assistant Advaith Bhat arrived and caught the snake.
The two opened the snake’s mouth and inserted a scissor to hold the lower jaw of the snake while a man held the upper jaw. They inserted another pair of scissors into the snake’s mouth to remove the knife which was 12-inch long and two-inch wide (1 foot). The two pulled out the knife and ensured it was stable and unharmed. The snake was later taken to a forest area and released.
