Unruly scenes witnessed in toll plaza, employees threaten to smash car windows

MAHI: Some unruly scenes were witnessed at Muzhappilangad toll plaza on the Thalassery-Mahi bypass on Sunday at around 9 pm. A fight broke out between the passengers and toll employees at the toll plaza. Natives of Chokli filed a complaint with the Thalassery police against the security guard and supervisor for misbehaving. The toll plaza employees misbehaved with a group of four, including two women, over the issue of paying toll.

The toll plaza employees turned violent after questioned about the traffic jam in front of the toll gate for more than half an hour. The passengers also alleged that the employees threatened to smash the car windows. However, when they tried to leave without paying the toll, the employees stopped them and in a fit of rage the passengers beat them.

The CCTV footage of the commotion has surfaced. In the footage, one of the passengers can be seen pushing the toll employee and soon the security officer is seen pushing the passenger. The group of passengers who witnessed this got out of the vehicle and tried to attack the toll plaza employees.
