Man, children die after jumping from seventh floor to escape fire

NEW DELHI: A man and his two children died after jumping from the seventh floor to escape the fire in a multi-storied building. The incident happened at 10 am Tuesday in a building in Dwarka Sector 13, New Delhi.

Two children, a boy and a girl aged 10 and twins were the first to jump from the balcony to save themselves. They were confirmed dead at Aakash Hospital. Their father Yash Yadav (35) also jumped from the balcony and was declared dead at IGI Hospital.


The seriously injured were rushed to the hospital by the fire brigade but could not be saved. Yadav's wife and elder son, who were trapped in the building, were rescued and admitted to the hospital. Eight units of the fire brigade reached the spot for rescue operations. The reason behind the fire is not yet clear. Authorities have launched an investigation.
