Monsoon to become more active; Heavy rains predicted, warning issued

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy rains have been predicted in Kerala. As the monsoon gains strength, there will be heavy rains in the state for the next seven days. Isolated areas will receive very heavy rains. Strong winds will blow at a speed of 50 to 60 kmph from June 14 to 16. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that there is a possibility of very heavy rain on June 14 and 16 and heavy rain in isolated places on June 12 and 16. Orange and yellow alerts have been issued in various districts.

Orange alert
Orange alert has been issued in Kannur and Kasaragod on June 12. Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod on June 13. Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod on June 14. Although an orange alert is in Kannur and Kasaragod on June 14, there is a possibility of very heavy rains similar to red alert.

Yellow Alert
A yellow alert has been issued in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod today. A yellow alert will be issued in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod tomorrow.
