VIENNA: Several people have died in a mass shooting at a school in the southeastern Austrian city of Graz. According to media reports, the shooting took place at Dreierschützengasse high school.
The Austrian Interior Ministry said several people were killed, including the suspected gunman. Local media reported that police had indicated that the gunman was a student at the school and that he had shot himself.
Ten people are reported dead. Local media also reported that several people, including students and teachers, were seriously injured. The police operation to evacuate the school building is ongoing. A large police force, including special units, is on the ground. Police say they have deployed their specialist ‘Cobra Tactical Unit’, which handles attacks and hostage situations, after hearing gunfire from inside the building. Chancellor Christian Stocker has cancelled his day's meetings. The interior minister is on his way to Graz.
