THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As part of a massive anti-narcotics initiative, 1,758 individuals suspected of involvement in drug trafficking were screened during a statewide special drive conducted under Operation D-Hunt on June 12. The crackdown led to the registration of 77 cases related to possession of banned narcotic substances. A total of 79 people were arrested, and police seized various illicit drugs, including 4.54 grams of MDMA, 222.08 grams of cannabis, and 59 cannabis-laced beedis.
The operation was launched with the objective of identifying individuals engaged in the storage and distribution of prohibited narcotics and taking firm legal action against them.
To bolster public participation in the fight against drug abuse, a 24/7 Anti-Narcotics Control Room has been set up. Citizens can report drug-related activities by calling 9497927797. Authorities have assured that the identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential.
The Anti-Narcotics Intelligence Cell and the NDPS Coordination Cell are functioning under the direct supervision of the Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) to strengthen enforcement efforts. Similar intelligence units are also operational at the range level across the state.
