Malayali nursing student drowns in Parazhiyar in Tamil Nadu

VITHURA: A nursing student, native of Vithura, drowned while bathing with his friends in Thiruvattar, Tamil Nadu. Chennappara native Neeraj (20), son of Sanal Kumar and Jiji, died in the terrible incident.

Neeraj, a second-year student of Attur Marine Nursing College, and eight other students went for a bath in Pahrali River (Parazhiyar) on the last holiday. It was normal for the gang to take a cool dip in the river during holidays and Saturday was no different.

While bathing, Neeraj was caught in a whirl. His friends tried to save the youngster but lacked the grip. Frightened by the teen disappearing into the depths, the group hollered for help alerting the locals. The fire force then arrived from Kulasekaram, took Neeraj out and rushed him to Kuzhithurai Hospital. However, his life could not be saved.
