MALAPPURAM: Students staged a protest in Malappuram MSP School after a school teacher's car allegedly ran over a student’s leg. The student, who suffered a serious leg injury is now undergoing treatment. The students who witnessed the incident staged a protest in school even braving the inclement weather.

The incident took place last Friday. Mirsha, a 10th-grade student, was injured after being hit by a car, driven by school teacher Begum. Her classmates say there was a delay in taking Mirsha to the hospital after the accident.

After taking her to the hospital, it is alleged that the school authorities threatened the student to not reveal the incident to the public. A stent has been put on the leg of the injured student.

According to a few protesting students:

“We all were talking on the ground when the car rammed into her. We were shocked. She was first made to lie on a bench and then rushed to the cooperative hospital. The school authorities falsely informed the doctors that a wall had fallen on her legs.

Begum teacher’s brother is a doctor in the same hospital. The authorities took the injured student to the same hospital to escape from a criminal case. The students were asked to leave the hospital as they said the rules prohibited school students in uniform from entering the hospital. We don’t know where such bizarre rules came from.

The injured student was moved to another hospital after her parents intervened. It was from here that the doctors confirmed three fractures in her legs. Begum miss agreed to pay compensation but demanded the money back from the insurance claim.”
