Strong winds and rain possible; people in these two districts take note; red alert issued

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a red alert in two districts for the next three hours. According to the latest radar images, a red alert has been issued in Kannur and Kasaragod districts. IMD has informed that there is a possibility of moderate rainfall and strong winds with a speed of up to 50 kmph in these places.

* Waterlogging on main roads / blurred visibility in vehicles may occur, leading to traffic congestion.

* Waterlogging/flooding in low-lying areas and river banks is possible.

* Falling of trees may lead to power disruption/accident.

* Partial damage to houses and huts is possible.

* Landslides and mudslips are possible.

* Rain is likely to adversely affect humans and livestock and damage unprotected structures in the coastal area.
