THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan came down heavily on Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement to make Hindi as national language. This is a declaration of war against the human hearts loving their mother tongue as their own mother, blamed the chief minister. He criticised union minister’s statement through a Facebook post.

‘India is a nation that recognizes different languages. The Sangh Parivar should withdraw from the move of disrupting them. The Sangh Parivar should understand that such moves to divert attention from important issues faced by the country and the people are identified,’ the chief minister mentioned in the post.

Home Minister Amit Shah's refusal to withdraw from the 'Hindi Agenda' despite countrywide protests is a sign that the Sangh Parivar is launching a new battlefield in the name of language. The notion that Hindi can unite the country is completely wrong. The people of south and northeast states don’t speak Hindi. The claim that Hindi unifies our country is absurd. That language is not the mother tongue of a majority of Indians. It is a declaration of war against the hearts of a man loving their mother tongue as their own mother.

Hindi is recognized as the official language of India. There is no serious dispute in the country in the name of language. No Indian citizen should feel that he is not Indian because he does not speak Hindi. India is a nation that recognizes different languages, he said.

There should be a common language to represent India before the world. Amit Shah had tweeted yesterday that Hindi will be able to unite the country. He also tweeted that the widely spoken Hindi could unite the country and make Hindi the primary language.
