KOCHI: A fraud has been committed by creating fake versions of the Instagram page of a boutique owned by actress and anchor Arya Babu. The money was swindled by advertising that a sari worth Rs 15,000 is sold for Rs 1,900. Arya has filed a complaint with the police. The police said that a gang from Bihar is behind the scam.

It is reported that many people have been victims of fraud. The actress came to know about the fraud only when one who lost the money told her. She later lodged a complaint with the police. She also said that many call her daily and complain that they have been victims of the fraud.

The fraud is done by creating fake pages of the Instagram page of a retail shop named 'Kanchivaram'. The fake pages are created by editing the videos and pictures on the page. A phone number was given to contact. A QR code will be sent after contacting the number. After receiving the money, the number will be blocked.

The fraud came to light only when people didn’t receive the clothes even after days of paying the amount. About fifteen pages have been reported and closed. However, the fraudsters started about ten pages again. The police said that a large gang from North India is behind the scam. The police have informed people to be vigilant against such cyber scams.
